VISISEEK and the Online Display Advertising Marketplace

A display or banner ad is a form of advertising on the internet. This form of online advertising entails embedding an advertisement into a web page. It is intended to attract traffic to a website by linking to the website of the advertiser. The advertisement is constructed from an image (GIF, JPEG, PNG), JavaScript program or multimedia object employing technologies such as Java, Shockwave or Flash.

Banner ads are sold in a variety of methods:

CPM – cost per thousand of ad impressions (every time an ad is shown counts as an impression)

CPC – cost per click, a publisher (defined below) places an advertiser’s banner across their website and the advertiser pays the publisher every time a web visitor clicks on their banner

CPA – cost per action, a publisher will place banners across their website and an advertiser will pay them every time a pre-defined action occurs. An action can be a sale of product or service, a lead generated, an email submit, etc.

Publisher – Source of Ad Inventory. This can either refer to a general site publisher, like cnn.com, or a network-managed entity on the VISISEEK platform.

VISISEEK’s Place in the Online Display Media Ecosystem

Until recent technological developments, when a publisher’s in-house ad sales team was not able to sell all of their own ad inventory on their website it would remain unsold and become a lost revenue opportunity.

With the formation of ad exchanges, publishers now have the option to unload their unsold ad inventory into a digital marketplace creating an additional revenue stream that was not available to them in the past.

Formally defined, an Ad Exchange is an ecosystem through which advertisers, publishers, and networks meet and do business, typically on a unified platform or system. An ad exchange allows advertisers and publishers to speak same language in order to exchange data, set prices, and ultimately serve an ad.

Access to the exchanges is not available to the public at this time. After a lengthy approval process and commitment to a large monthly minimum in spend, VISISEEK was given access to become a buyer on these exchanges. VISISEEK can purchase remnant or unsold display ad inventory at heavily discounted prices on behalf of our advertiser’s and agencies.

Re-Marketing: Approximately 98% of website visitors will leave a website without converting. A conversion can be something as simple as an email submit to receive a newsletter or a complex sales transaction. Even though the website visitor did not convert on their first visit, these prospects have obviously shown an interest in a product or service and are extremely valuable.

Behavioral Targeting:Behavioral targeting uses information collected on an individual’s web-browsing behavior, such as the pages they have visited or the searches they have made, to select which advertisements to display to that individual. Instead of just serving ads blindly across the web, behavioral targeting delivers the right advertisements to the right person at the right time.

With the use of third party data partners, VISISEEK can zero in on our advertisers’ target audiences using gender, age, geography, income, members in household, education, etc. Using this data will make sure an advertiser is not wasting their ad budget serving irrelevant ads to individuals out of their target audience. For example, if a company sells surfboards they would be wasting their time and budget if their ads were being shown to an elder person in Colorado. Behavioral targeting ensures this does not happen; in turn, ad budgets are spent more efficiently and ROI is increased.

How it Works

A tag will be placed on the key pages of your website that will allow you to serve customized ads to prospects that left your site without converting. These tags help create targeted segments and correlate to appropriate creative combinations.

  • Anonymous cookie data is placed on the prospect’s computer
  • No adware or spyware is ever added to a prospects computer

 

The chart above illustrates a simplified re-marketing flow. A visitor/prospect reached your website and an anonymous cookie is placed. Once a user reaches a publisher site within the VISISEEK network, our technology syncs and serves the prospect the right ad at the right time.

We target prospects within a 72-hour window with 3-5 banner impressions.

Agency Opportunities

Partnering with VISISEEK will provide your company/agency the means to offer your clients unrivaled online display media capabilities. As mentioned before, only a select group of companies have direct access to the discounted ad inventory the exchanges offer.

An even smaller group has the ability to use third party data partners to hone in on target audiences and the technology necessary to properly re-market visitors that had already shown an interest in a company’s product or service.

Dedicated Re-Marketing Account Specialist

VISISEEK is dedicated to our client’s success and assigns each advertiser with a Re-Marketing Account Specialist. Depending on the advertiser’s needs, an Account Specialist is available for weekly or bi-weekly review calls.

We take pride in our customer service and are available via phone, email, or skype. Account Specialists guide advertisers through the complex display eco-system and clarify all reporting and campaign implementation questions.

Real-time Analytics and Reporting

Advertiser reporting can be accessed in real-time via the analytics system. The VISISEEK Stats analytics system allows reports to be pulled and exported via excel or .csv and also be emailed upon a schedule.

The system includes conversion tracking and either static or dynamic revenue values may be passed back into the system. Outside of the standard click to conversion tracking,VISISEEK offers post view click and conversion tracking. Post view tracking allows advertisers to assign a value to the prospects that viewed the ad but did not click on it. These prospects either returned to the site via direct navigation or a search query.

 

 

Creative Review and Optimization

Creative is put through a hand review process to ensure the content meets required guidelines. Creative is loaded within 24 hours upon receipt. Supported file types are jpg, gif, png, and swf. Upon request we will also provide feedback on all creative to help increase campaign performance. VISISEEK can also split and multivariate test creative combinations.

Dedicated Yield Management and Optimization Team

Prior to campaign launch VISISEEK’s yield management and optimization team will sit down with the advertiser and work through our campaign request worksheet.

This worksheet defines campaign objectives and clearly outlines both the success metrics and deliverables. VISISEEK’s team of expert media planners will outline selected inventory lists, implement re-marketing and conversion tracking pixels, and set up the advertiser’s segments on a URL basis for re-marketing. All prior marketing efforts will be base-lined and our team will execute the most efficient cost effective strategy available.

The optimization process is continual and advertiser campaigns will be reviewed multiple times daily to ensure all objectives are being met.
